Missionary slain in Congo guerilla attack details emerge
Irene Ferrel, 43, a Baptist missionary from Jerome Idaho, was killed by an arrow shot by a guerrilla band led by former Education Minister Pierre Moulele near Mangungu in Kwilu Province. Her last letter warned her life might be at risk as she returned to the Congo in 1961 after induction of independence. Her parents, Mr and Mrs Ernest Ferrel, and her sister remain anxious with no word from another daughter in the Congo.
