Car Blanks 2300 Homes After Hit Run Crash
A hit run driver struck a power pole in the Village area Sunday night cutting off about 2,300 homes for three hours. The outage spanned from Harbor Road to Carson Street and Lakewood Boulevard to Bellflower Boulevard. Power was restored in stages by evening with a lingering eight block section dark until 10 p.m. Police used a helicopter to aid the response while crews worked.

Boat Torn to Pieces Off Palos Verdes
Two Santa Monica skin divers escaped injury when their 19 foot inboard boat overturned in heavy surf off the Palos Verdes Peninsula.
