Red-hot lava pours into the ocean on Hawaii Island sending steam columns high as the blue Pacific turns murky. A river of seething lava flows from a Rift near Kilauea into coast, burning farms, trees and utility poles after the eruption began Wednesday night.
A Nevada sheriff’s posse, with four authorities, found three bodies at the Chel area after locating a private Cessna 182 wreck at about 3,500 feet between Kingston Valley and the Nevada border. The plane is linked to Homer Heller of Escondido, a former Long Beach resident. Justine Sayer of Los Angeles and Bernice Duncan of San Diego were identified as passengers. Family members remain in the Long Beach area.
