CAPE CANAVERAL Fila Amer ica’s missile center heard a double blast as the Atlas and the Navaho fired in rapid succession. The Atlas roared aloft on a 600 mile arc while the Navaho followed, marking a rare close-proximity test at the center and signaling growing U.S. capability to test fire intercontinental weapons despite weather delays. The Titan remained unfired.
