Lawmakers seek 7 percent cut to contingency funds
SACRAMENTO AP The state Senate urged cutting at least seven percent from a $28 million contingency fund. Sen. George Deukmeier said the governor’s 7 percent office budget cut is symbolic and urged the rules committees to reduce both Senate and Assembly contingency funds by a minimum of seven percent. Brown had promised to cut his $2.0 million budget to set an example, aiming to curb nonessential expenditures. Deukmeian called it a very good possibility lawmakers would join the cut.
