Theft Suspect Nabbed In California Drug Firm Heist
A 54-year-old bookkeeper, Hatchell, was arrested in Netersas Memorial Muspith on three counts of grand theft and two counts of falsification of corporate records. Investigators say he siphoned more than 30,000 over four years from Cancer and Pearson, Inc., at Willow Street and Magnolia Avenue, then covered shortages by shifting deposits and using postdated checks. He allegedly planned death by his own action and was seen in Long Beach after firing December 3. His total theft is estimated at 530,000. The suspect, fired for accounting discrepancies, disappeared December 5, leaving car and wallet behind. His wife and employer reportedly received postcards threatening self-harm.
