Police report burglars forced a bedroom window to enter the Long Beach residence of Leland Anderson at 3225 Rhea Street and steal items valued at 1565 dollars. The incident was disclosed by Long Beach police on Sunday.
The body of 30 year old Elaine J. Baker was found on a ledge 200 feet down a 250 foot Palos Verdes Estates cliff. Three Firestone area teenagers aged 14, 16, and 17 were arrested on suspicion of murder in the December 28 death of Ardis Love, 39, who was shot during a robbery as he sold ice cream. Love’s body was found after witnesses reported a single gunshot and fleeing youths. The deputies said the slaying appeared unrelated to two similar vendor killings last year in Watts and South Los Angeles.
Los Angeles police report a 69 year old man, John A. Crowell of Los Angeles, was stabbed several times during an early Sunday robbery on a city street. Crowell, who was holding $18, collapsed after a struggle with an assailant.
Two 18 year olds were wounded at a party in Lincoln Heights amid rival gang activity. A third teen was shot in the eye in a downtown housing project. all three were listed in serious or critical condition as police investigated the gang related violence.
About 813 homes in Norwalk and the Norwalk sheriff's station lost power for an hour when a car struck a power pole at Bloomfield Avenue and Flagon Street in Santa Fe Springs at 9:56 p.m. The affected border ran from Los Nietos Drive to the Santa Ana Freeway, Norwalk Boulevard to Murray Avenue. Southern California Edison said emergency power kept the sheriff's station running.
