Monastery siege: Indians, police exchange gunfire in Wisconsin
In Gresham Wisconsin a group calling itself the Menominee Warrior Society occupied the Alexian Brothers novitiate. Police surrounding the monastery exchanged gunfire for the first time since the New Year takeover with no reported injuries. A woman inside was later described as ill not shot, and negotiators hoped to evacuate women and children while continuing talks. About 150 Menominee Indians rallied in support alongside the militants.
