Riles sees recession delaying California school programs
California schools chief Wilson Riles warned that the national recession could push back ambitious education plans. He urged the Legislature and governor to keep school needs first if funds remain, and cited a push to expand Early Childhood Education with a $70 million boost to reach more children. Riles noted ongoing debates over a $1.4 billion annual aid request and potential inflation offsets.
