Expelled Barefoot by Egypt Leaves Pilot in Ismailia
Capt. Raphael P. Kenel of Bronx, a U.S. pilot who served 15 months on the Suez Canal, was expelled from Egypt barefoot from his Ismailia home after police seized him on December 26. He says the move may be tied to his role with the Suez Canal Employes Syndicate and his protest of the "lafe America" campaign. He spent a night in a Cairo police station with no bed and later contacted the U.S. consul after allegedly receiving no food for 24 hours.
