Leisure and wealth promise change in 1985
The Southern California Research Council says by 1985 Americans could work 22 hours a week, take 25 weeks of vacation, retire at 38, or earn similar income. Leisure currently absorbs 25 percent of 110 billion yearly hours in Southern California, with $10 billion spent on leisure. The study warns expanded leisure requires attitude shifts and better use of facilities, noting worsening traffic and space loss.
