Two Pico youths die in flooded sump tragedy

In Pico Rivera a 12 year old and a 9 year old who fled homes during a rainstorm died after entering a flooded sump behind the Whittier Drive-In Theater. Robbie Joor dens and Larry McMeekin were last seen near Coffman Pico Road before midnight Tuesday. Their bodies were found Friday afternoon in waist deep water and sand within the sump, which locals had dubbed Frog Pond.

RCA Hit by Jury Charges

A federal grand jury indicted Radio Corp. of America on monopolization charges under anti trust laws. The four count indictment cites RCA owning more than 10 000 patents in radio and television equipment and radar devices and alleges licensing demands and exclusive deals with foreign and domestic firms including AT&T General Electric and Westinghouse. Maximum fine 200 000 if sustained. The case mirrors a civil suit filed over three years ago and still pending.
