Panov warned to emigrate amid emigre tensions
Moscow reports Valery Panov a 35 year old former Kirov dancer must leave for Israel immediately without his wife or face actions. Mrs Panov says he refuses to abandon her, just after Solzhenitsyn's expulsion. Panov, Jewish, was dismissed from the Kirov nearly two years ago for intending to emigrate.

Man kills wife six others for Lord in Mississippi
Fayette Miss four construction workers killed wife and six relatives, including an eighth relative critically wounded, as Frankie Lee Lias aged 20 said he heard a voice he believed was the Lord. He surrendered after the predawn shootings at a house and adjacent mobile home four miles east of Fayette. Police said he was charged with murder. Local sheriff J P Wallace reported the details.

President Nixon fetches Julie Nixon in hospital detour
President Nixon flew to Indiana University Hospital in Indianapolis to pick up his convalescing daughter Julie and to thank doctors and nurses. After visiting, the Nixon family returned to Washington on the presidential jet. Julie’s husband David Eisenhower and Mrs. Nixon joined, and Julie’s sister and brother-in-law flew in. The president stayed to thank nursing staff and others who cared for Julie after emergency surgery five days earlier.

Train Rams Car Waiting in Gas Queue in Pleasanton
In Pleasanton California a motorist Olga Foriska waiting in a gas queue jumped from her car just before a 62 car Western Pacific freight train struck. She fled with her dog to safety as the train spun her car and wrecked the other vehicle. No injuries reported though major damage occurred.
