Belfast plans to arrest IRA members and curb rioting after Premier James Chichester-Clark brands the group criminals. New laws ban burying, hiding, or parading corpses, and permit police to detain suspected IRA members to curb violence.
Nixon sends a broad environmental package to Congress including an $8 billion request to curb water pollution and new measures on ocean dumping and noise.
