Port Los Angeles sees second straight fall in on the job accidents
Harbor Department safety engineer Don N. Moore reported a continued decline in on the job accidents during the 1970 peak period from July 1 to October 17. He cited a drop to 47 days lost from 112 the previous year and noted savings from reduced injury costs. Moore attributed the trend to a safety awareness campaign and pointed out that most injuries occur June to September. He also highlighted improvements in medical cases and injury severity while placing the Harbor Department among safer city civil services tests despite a largely field workforce.
