Teen drinking and driving linked to social pressures study
A $100000 study on teen drinking finds one fourth of high school students have driven while drunk and 32 percent rode with a heavily drinking driver. Data from 397 students in 25 areas shows many youths underestimate legal consequences and that drinking and driving is common among mainstream youth. Authorities say efforts should target social acceptance and peer pressure rather than just legal action.
