Grand Jury Urges Reforms After City Corruption Probe
The 1960 Los Angeles Grand Jury released a 55 page report citing serious concerns over city government fraud. It highlighted three indictments including the Long Beach case and cases involving the Ca vina police chief and Culver City sanitation chief. It urged stronger civil service ethics and new pension protections. The panel also noted a surge in narcotics indictments and urged efficient remedies for county debts and adoption procedures.
