Brown Papers in Dispute Over State Archives
Sacramento officials clash with Bancroft Library over Gov. Brown's papers as Secretary of State Frank M. Jordan seeks to keep state documents in the Archives. Brown agrees to donate his papers to UC Berkeley but conditions limit access during his life and require archival control to stay with the state. The dispute centers on whether official state records should remain in Sacramento or be given to the Bancroft Library.
