BBB issues gold sales guidelines for advertisers
The Better Business Bureau released nine voluntary guidelines Sunday for gold advertisers to curb claims of guaranteed future price profits and high returns. The rules urge clear disclosure of net returns including storage insurance and commissions and caution against comparing gold to other investments until regulatory provisions are issued. Meanwhile a winter storm spread from Montana to the Great Lakes, depositing up to five inches of new snow and triggering weather warnings across several northern states as temperatures plummeted.
