The state Water Quality Control Board will decide whether to alter the 33 month delay for completing the city's sewage age treatment program. The delay was granted by the San Francisco regional board on December 6. Spokesman Evan Nosoff said there is a sense the timetable needs scrutiny.
Sheriff Peter Pitchess accused Los Angeles County supervisors of unjustly endorsing mileage claims by deputies, arguing county car costs run 0.23 dollars per mile and that providing adequate police vehicles would curb fraud. He urged referring Ward's allegations to the Grand Jury and warned against presuming guilt without full inquiry.
