Faults in East Bay May Face Next Great Quake
Federal quake expert Dr James Savage told AGU fall meeting that the Hayward Calaveras Faults in the East Bay may be more dangerous than the San Andreas. He cited more relative motion and building strain on East Bay faults, though he warned against predicting timing. Another expert noted lack of creep on the San Andreas north of Hollister suggesting the next major quake could occur there or nearby.
