Top Viets Die With Americans In High-Altitude Battle
In the central highlands on Saturday Communist forces shot down a U S Army helicopter, killing Col Ngu yen Van Lien 36 chief of the 24th Special Tactical Zone and four fellow officers along with six American airmen. The loss is described as one of the war’s costliest. Lien helped overthrow Diem in 1963 and led South Vietnamese troops in major battles. Identifications for the American casualties were pending family notification.

Space Telescope hints universe larger than thought
NASA officials say the orbiting ultraviolet observatory reports universe may be several times larger than previously believed and possibly open rather than closed.
