Court blocks Nixon secretary from removing files
U S District Judge Aubrey Robinson halted Rose Mary Woods from taking certain papers and personal items from among the Nixon White House records. Woods sought items including the 18 minute tape gap materials transcripts and personal mementos as part of a dispute over access to Watergate era documents and tapes. The court stay allows an appeal by the Reporters Committee for the Freedom of the Press and other groups seeking public access to the Nixon papers.

Nixon CIA testimony rejected by Senate panel chief
Former President Richard Nixon offered to testify about the CIA with veto rights over topics, but Senate Intelligence Committee Chair Frank Church rejected the plan as unacceptable. Church said Nixon would control disclosures and urged the panel to deny the limited participation proposal. The committee, finishing hearings by February 29, will not subpoena Nixon.
