Split mates owed support despite pacts court rules
California Supreme Court ruled unanimously that personal duties in a marriage cannot be overridden by premarital property contracts. The court noted trial courts may award support to either spouse after dissolution, in a Santa Barbara County case involving Lolita A. Higgason and William H. Higgason.
