Accent Coach Ruth Roberts Shaped Hollywood Speech
Bellevue-based Ruth Roberts mentored stars like Ingrid Bergman and Loretta Young at Metro Goldwyn Mayer turning foreign accents into American speech. She taught Bergman for Intermezzo and Casablanca, helped Una Massey with Kish me again, and guided Miss Bergman through multiple roles. Roberts spoke Swedish fluently, influenced Hollywood during its golden era, and returned from England to continue coaching in Seattle suburb.
