Unknown soldiers aboard the Queen Mary mystery ends
The Museum of the Sea in Long Beach seeks names of crew and troops carried by the RMS Queen Mary during World War II. Governments and Cunard have no records, and officials appeal to former passengers to write in. The ship, leased by Cunard, carried Americans Canadians Australians and British for long wartime voyages, with the museum aiming to create a living memorial opening in September 1969.

Ten Years Sobriety Conditioned in Fatal Garden Grove Crash
Albert Rex Kinsey 48 of Garden Grove was ordered by Santa Ana Superior Court to maintain sobriety for 10 years or face prison after pleading no contest to manslaughter and felony drunken driving in a crash that killed three Garden Grove High School students Diedre Girouard Grace Stock and Lance Cpl. George Brewer. Kinsey admitted drunkenness and was told one drink could send him to prison. The May crash occurred when his pickup struck the stopped car and its gas tank exploded. Kinsey changed to a no contest plea after seeking a jury trial, with his attorney noting he did not believe Kinsey had a chronic drinking problem, while the judge said it was evident he did.
