Sleep apnea linked to insomnia findings at Stanford
Stanford researchers report sleep disturbances in insomniacs tied to sleep apnea episodes lasting 20 to 30 seconds. In six patients, breathing pauses preceded arousals with up to 250 awakenings a night, suggesting apnea contributes to insomnia and may be worsened by barbiturates. A separate bill signed by Governor Reagan prohibits residency requirements for school district employees.
