County plan for county mayor dies in tie vote
Los Angeles County voters were to decide if the board should have a county executive mayor. The measure failed on a tie vote due to Supervisor James Hayes's illness after Sehabarum and Debs opposed placing it on the ballot. Hahn urged the public right to decide, noting potential cost and governance changes. Debs and Schabarum defended opposing the plan, while Ward supported the voters deciding. Hahn planned to reintroduce the issue on September 4.
