Boeing to build mini jumbo jet to outfly 747
Boeing announced a junior jumbo jet, the 7478P, shorter by 47 feet and carrying 288 to 360 passengers. It promises lower fuel use, a nearly 6,900 mile range, higher cruising altitude, and quieter operation than current 747 models, with initial talks to Pan American and Japan Airlines and others ongoing.
