Reuther Fires Back at GM Over $100 Car Cut Plan
UAW chief Walter Reuther rebuked General Motors for an arbitrary rejection of his $100 price cut proposal for 1955 car models. GM President Harlow Curtice urged a two year contract extension as anti inflation policy and warned against bargaining over product prices. Reuther accused GM of short sightedness and of harming American consumers, while Curtice framed the extension as constructive for economic stability.
