World Fair Tax Vote Stalls Over Pier 1 Site
Long Beach council debates moving the World’s Fair from plan to practice amid disputes over Pier 1 as the site and over tax funding. Councilman Bond seeks deadline shifts and site restrictions while Crow and Hayes push to drop the tax vote and deny tidewater funding. Corbett offers an alternate motion, but both proposals fail as Crow’s plan to kill the fair is rejected 5 3.
