Signal Hill Keeps 6e Property Tax Rate in 77-78
Signal Hill City Council kept the property tax rate at 8 cents per 10 dollars of assessed valuation for 1977-78, matching the prior seven years. The council also chose to levy the same fire protection tax via city coffers to gain federal revenue sharing credits, while routine items dominated the meeting with two members away. City Manager John Jameson noted Shell Oil Co faced faster water use under its secondary recovery program and will shift to paying full water rates, affecting future water rate decisions led by Mayor J Ennis Neff.
