Deputy Killed in Gunman Shootout at California Grocery
A Madera County deputy and a gunman were killed after a family disturbance call led to a shootout at The Last Chance Grocery in Madera. Sheriff Ed Bates said Steve Lindbloom, 28, died at the scene. George Walker, 59, was found dead inside the residence after officers located him 30 hours into the standoff. Walker allegedly shot at responders, and his wife Bernice Walker had just left him. Two reserve deputies were wounded. the suspect’s weapons included a shotgun and a .32 caliber possibly.
