Escapee holds seven at knifepoint before deadly shootout
An escaped San Quentin inmate named Winn, who evaded capture since Aug. 2, held seven people at Jenner near the Sonoma coast for about 22 hours. Deputies tracked him to a Jenner home after he entered the Von Arx residence, where a gun battle ensued and Winn was killed. The hostages, including two teenage boys and three friends, were unharmed.
