Las Vegas minister courted by neon parish on Strip
Rick Mawson, 31, a Congregational minister without a church, serves as chaplain of the Las Vegas Strip. His four mile parish includes showgirls, porters, and entertainers. He counsels, listens, and reports back to his church while balancing conversions, finances, and a life amid gambling and nightlife. He was ordained in 1964 and works to raise his family in Las Vegas despite limited support from the United Church of Christ.
