Beach Tragedy At Bluff Reveals Two Drowned Boys
Civilians and lifeguards dug through a cave in a bluffside after a slide collapsed on two young boys at a Long Beach beach. Both victims were pronounced dead at Community Hospital after rescue attempts and a mobile ambulance transfer. Police noted a long-standing cave used by the public with a tunnel leading behind the bluff, and the scene was secured with a bulldozer and rope cordon. The boys’ families included Mrs O’Brien and her children from a previous marriage, with the husband stationed overseas in Vietnam likely tied to the background family to this outing.
