Chavez Sues Over Ballot Pamphlet In November Vote
In Sacramento the United Farm Workers Union filed suit to block printing of the ballot pamphlet while the case proceeds. Cesar Chavez argues the pamphlet’s anti initiative statements are fraudulent and seeks a temporary restraining order. The suit names assemblymen Ken Maddy and John Garamendi as signers of the disputed statement. Chavez says the anti argument falsely claims funding cant be controlled by the Legislature and that a constitutional amendment would be required to change the initiative.
