Study Warns of Back Injuries in Young Gymnasts
A study of 100 young girls from Orange County and the Bay Area, averaging 14 years old, finds a fourfold higher rate of vertebral back injuries among gymnasts compared with peers. Doctors Wiltse and Jackson urge awareness as skeletally immature athletes face spine strains, spondylolysis, and other injuries amid year round, high hour training.

Pants Move to Center Stage in Fall Collections
Fashion editors note a shift from skirt focus to pants in fall lines. Designers debut cut-offs, knee-length jumpsuits, culottes, and soft, boot-tucked pants, with many ensembles leaning toward play over work. Evening wear favors sleek pantsuits and glamorous options, including deep rose silk ensembles and lace-trimmed pieces.
