New Treatments May Offer Hope for Brain Cancer
At a Long Beach cancer seminar Dr. Nathaniel Bokurnick described combination surgery, irradiation, and drugs as a path to improved outcomes. He noted BONU is a new drug with inconclusive current results while Dr. Christos Papatheodorou highlighted radiotherapy with brain- swelling drugs for multiple metastatic tumors. Experimental negative pion radiation devices may soon roll out in Los Alamos and Stanford University, promising more effective treatment than standard radiation.
