Detroit AP reports mid April domestic car sales dropped 18 percent from a year earlier to a 14 year low. Chrysler tumbles 41 percent in the April 11-20 period while Ford falls 24 percent GM down 8 percent and AMC off 7 percent.
UPI reports a March decline in the weekly average cost of a market basket of U.S. farm produced foods to 35.02 dollars, the first drop since July prior. The drop stemmed from lower returns to farmers and a higher middleman margin, with beef bread eggs and pork among items falling.
