Lakewood CC Land Condemned After Negotiations Fail
Los Angeles reports condemnation of the Lakewood Golf Course after county supervisors learned owners would not negotiate to sell the property. County Manager Arthur J. Will noted the American Trust & Savings Co. of Whittier sought a price well above the county's $2 million appraisal. Lease costs over 20 years were cited as a reason for purchase, with Boyar offering $1.9 million earlier.
