Nixon Seeks 8 Billion Dollar Cut Across Federal Budget

Nixon called for an immediate around eight billion dollar budget cut to avert what he termed the worst postwar economic crisis. He said the U S must protect savings and income of millions by acting now to preserve the international monetary system. The plan followed a Cheyenne meeting with Wyoming Governor Stan Hathaway as Nixon tours the West with Republican governors. Also noted, a Gallup poll showed Nixon leading Kennedy and McCarthy, with Humphrey trailing. Sutton will advise Sen Kennedy on urban affairs in his presidential bid.

Nixon Too Getting Backing From Young

In Cheyenne Wyoming, eight year old Mike Lewis, grandson of GOP leader Paul Groesbeck, handshakes Nixon despite a broken hand and says he would vote for Nixon if he were 21.
