Apollo Photos Show Side Panel Missing After Blast

Apollo photos from Apollo 19 reveal a 10 foot long side panel of the service module worn away by an oxygen tank rupture. Black and white prints from color negatives show a poorly lit scene taken Friday after Lovell Halse and Swigert moved away from the service module hours before reentry. Lovell described a missing side of the spacecraft as the crew faced the abort.
