Four New Judges for State Seen
Washington reports California lawmakers were told the omnibus judgeship bill will add four federal judges in California. The Senate approved two new judges for the northern district and two for the southern district, while the House version limited to one per district. Reps Moss and Miller explained that assurances from Judge Emanuel Celler would restore the two additional posts in conference. The Judicial Conference of the United States had recommended the four new California slots, with the bill enabling Kennedy to appoint up to 70 lifetime federal judges.
