Twilight of the Spooks novel ban by CIA
Justice Department wins a temporary court order barring former CIA employee Victor L. Marchetti from publishing manuscripts and a book outline that allegedly disclose espionage secrets. Judge Albert V. Bryan Jr. in Alexandria, Virginia, warned such disclosures threaten national defense and foreign relations, citing CIA security agreements and 27 noted contacts with reporters. Marchetti, a CIA employee 1955 to 1989, had sold an article titled Twilight of the Spooks to a nationwide magazine.

Elisberg to receive secret Pentagon Papers documents
A Los Angeles federal judge ordered that portions of the Pentagon Papers be provided to Daniel Ellsberg and co-defendant Anthony Russo for defense use while remaining secret from the press and public. The protective order limits copies, requires a list of recipients, and allows sharing only with court-approved experts and consultants during pretrial proceedings. A further pretrial hearing is scheduled for May 2.
