Strawberry patch delays Cerritos library groundbreak
A landmark Cerritos library project faces delays as a strawberry grower rents city land for crops near the planned site. Ray Mitchell, renting seven acres, reports peak harvests in March and April, with some berries ripening into June, complicating construction and raising concerns for 35 workers. City officials and the library director foresee a mid May groundbreaking if leases and designs proceed.
