Governor hints bigger pay hikes for some state jobs
Governor Reagan told 850 civil servants at a Sacramento conference that some state employees may get larger raises than the 5 percent proposed because of an unexpected budget surplus. He criticized a state employee initiative to curb his veto power and urged restraint, noting a possible mid May decision on extra funds to fix inequities after accounting for a coming surplus.
