The Long Beach office reports rising out-of-town employment as recruiters target nearby cities. In recent years placements ranged from 100 to 400 a month. In January last month 389 Long Beach residents found out-of-town work while 254 stayed local. Holly Wood area ranked second with 167 placements and Compton third amid expanding job-producing industries.

Robbery gang mastermind Terry back on death row
Doyle Alva Terry, 27, returned to San Quentin death row under guard after testifying not needed at a trial for three alleged confederates in Los Angeles.
