Cake sculptor Pronovost builds edible monuments
Rosaire Pronovost, a 47 year old Canadian cake artist from Garden Grove, designs monumental edible scenes. He created a 12 foot cake for Long Beach’s 75th anniversary, a map of the city on the bottom tier, and dreams of larger replicas like Disneyland. His work blends gastronomy with artistry as demand grows.

3000-Year-Old Relics Found On San Pedro Site
Archaeologists report in the first month of digging at the San Pedro hilltop village site they have excavated over 100 sampling pits and 2,000 feet of trench while seeking a burial ground. They describe three horizons of culture from primitive seed eaters to later hunters and fishermen and note the site may predate later tribes. The project, led by Roger Desautels, is run for the state by the Department of Parks and Recreation with artifacts to be shared with the nearest museum. The five-acre midden area is fenced, with access limited to highway crews and archaeologists.
