Odd political pair attack new California sentencing guidelines
In Sacramento AP reports Prisoners Union and California Peace Officers Association unite to oppose proposed sentencing guidelines arguing they overemphasize the defendant and underplay the crime. They call for reform of the advisory committee led by State Chief Justice Rose Bird, and note the new fixed term prison law takes effect July 1 replacing indeterminate sentences.
